REPORTING LINE: Field Sales Manager

Purpose of Position

Develop and execute a sales plan to increase the SSS Security portfolio Sector, while ensuring the advancement of the objectives of organic revenue and operating margin growth.

Professional Experience

Significant proven experience in sales, developing business for the local market through the sale of packaged solutions, and for which the business strategy has been focussed on a short sales cycle, preferably in the security-technology sector. B2B or B2C experience preferred.


Specific Knowledge

  • Professional sales training and good commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, oral and timely
  • A sound knowledge of the Security Systems industry and understanding of system design – CCTV, Access Control, Intruder & Fire is an advantage but not essential
  • Proven track record of account management, order generation, customer development and retention
  • Basic knowledge of how to draw up estimates and business proposals is an advantage.
  • Where applying for a position internally – you must have been in post for a minimum of 6 months and showing strong sales performance

Major Responsibilities

  • Developing sales leads within the assigned territory through self-initiated strategies, cold calling and referrals.
  • Selling Stanley Security Solutions services and systems to achieve and exceed individual targeted goals.
  • Developing and identifying new business opportunities within your region
  • Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for New Business
  • Maintaining an active lead generation plan.
  • Providing timely and effective sales presentations to prospective customers to ensure that the product and services offered are thoroughly explained, understood and sold.
  • Planning a sales approach designed to determine the prospective customers’ needs and requirements for the product / services offered, and the investment the prospective customer is willing to make
  • Preparing sales reports in a timely manner to keep sales managers informed of sales activities
  • Co-ordinating with other departments to ensure the confidence of the customer is maintained. This is achieved through effective oral and written communication with department heads and the Branch Manager or Branch Sales Manager
  • Following up sales upon completion of the installation to ensure the system is working properly, explaining its operation to the customer, and maintaining a rapport that will result in continual referrals.
  • Operating within the general policies and procedures of the local branch as well as Head Office; guided by the generally-accepted practices of the alarm industry and local regulations.
  • Fully utilizing the Sales and Marketing support team to help achieve this goal
  • Providing regular (at least monthly) reports, forecasts and relevant sales information as requested by the Sales Director.
  • Controlling and following up your pipeline in order to ensure results are met in accordance with your sales targets.
  • Updating the CRM in order to follow up customers and for internal reporting.

Expectation of the Role

  • Achieve a weekly target of at least 16 Face to Face appointments
  • Self lead generation preferable via phone and Canvassing
  • Self Starter
  • 10% conversion rate

Security vetting involves the following: 5 year full employment history check, Disclosure Scotland (formerly CRB) check (for convictions not classed as spent under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act) , 2 character referees, a financial sanctions check (relating to any active CCJ’s – County Court Judgements, bankruptcy or IVA’s) that are active, and finally a terrorist check.
